Hi friends, well today i am here with the Raavan movie preview and with the answer of question that how you can watch it online after the release? first let me tell you something in my short words about this fantastic movie. Basically RAAVAN is a modern day adaption based story which is about the great indian epic Ramyana (which is the kind of holy book of Hindus) and this movie has very big names like Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram in the lead roles while Govinda, Ravi Kishan, Nikhil Dwivedi, Tejaswini Kolhapure and Priyamani. The story writer and director is Mani Ratnam.

More About Raavan Movie: It has been simultaneously made in Tamil as RAAVANAN with a slightly different cast. Vikram, who plays Dev in Hindi version, plays Veera, a Naxalite leader (Ravana) in Tamil version, whereas Prithviraj plays a Police officer. Abhishek Bachchan is there only in Hindi version; however Aishwarya Rai is there in both the versions. The film is also dubbed into Telugu and other regional languages. Mani Ratnam has approached the story from the perspective of Veera (RAAVAN). The music and lyrics of the movie are done by Oscar winners A. R. Rahman & Gulzar. The audio rights are with T-Series. RAAVAN, which hits the screens in June 2010, is jointly distributed by Madras Talkies and Big Pictures. Dev falls in love with Ragini, a spunky classical dancer who is as unconventional as him. They get married and he takes up his new post in Lal Maati, a small town in northern India. A town where the word of law is not the police but Beera, a tribal who has, over the years, shifted the power equation of the place from the ruling to the have-nots of the area. Dev knows, that the key to bringing order to any place is to vanquish the big fish; in this case- Beera. In one stroke Dev manages to rip open Beera’s world, and set in motion a chain of events which will claim lives, change fortunes. Beera, injured but enraged hits back starting a battle that draws Dev, Beera and Ragini into the jungle. The jungle which is dense, confusing, scary. And in this journey they must comfort their own truth. A journey which will test their beliefs, convictions and emotions. Emotions, which are as scary and confusing as the forest. The forest becomes the battleground. The battle between good and evil, between Dev, and Beera, between Ram and Raavan. But when the lines dividing good and evil are blurring fast whose side will you take. When hate turns to love and the good start’ looking evil, which side will you battle for? Love is a battle that nobody wins but everyone must fight. Even this Raavan.

    In Raavan movie Vikram enjoyed playing Veera

    Vikram Kennedy is not a well known actor in Bollywood but he is one of the most sought after actors in South Indian cinema. Vikram Kennedy worked in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan which will hit the theatres on June 18, 2010. He played two different characters in two version. In Tamil version, Raavanan, he played the negative character, Veera, while in Hindi version, he played the role of police officer.

    It was a very demanding job for Vikram. In an interview with Times of India, the actor shares his experience.

    Vikram played Dev in Hindi version and Veera in Tamil version and the two are entirely different characters with entirely different style and body language. Initially, he was offered the role of Veera in Tamil movie. Later Mani Ratnam told him that he should also play Dev in Hindi movie. It was Mani Ratnam’s confidence in Vikram that helped him pull off such a feat. Never before in Indian cinema, any actor played simultaneously two different roles at the same time. It can only happen in Indian cinema because movies are made in different languages in India. Vikram also dubbed his own voice in Hindi version. People who watched Vikram in Raavan liked his work.

    When asked if he is planning to do any more movies in Hindi. Vikram said,

    “I’m just testing the waters. Anniyan (dubbed into Hindi as Aparachit) had given me some kind of recognition in Hindi cinema. It got me a lot of offers from Mumbai, but Tamil cinema will always be my top priority. I will take a call on doing more Hindi films after the release of Raavan and that too, only if I get a strong script.”

    When asked which character he enjoyed playing most in Raavan and Raavana, Vikram said that Veera is very close to him. The character of Veera is multi-faceted. He is a strong character and holds a lot of power. On the contrary, Dev is a very traditional hero. There is nothing very unusual about him. On the contrary, Veera has grey shades and it gave Vikram a lot of scope to explore new range of emotions.

    The countdown for Raavanan has just begun. With only a week left for the curtain to go up, the focus is now on Chiyaan Vikram. An actor who relishes challenging roles, Vikram has always been the pride of Kollywood, playing every part to perfection, from a cool Casanova in Kanthaswamy, to a daring cop in Saami or an uncouth undertaker in Pithamagan.

    With Raavanan, the actor has added one more notable achievement to his long list of accomplishments — he happens to be the first actor to do two different roles in two versions of the movie. With Mani Ratnam at the helm, Ravanan has the who’s who of Tamil cinema working together, sending expectations soaring. DC presents this exclusive interview with Vikram.

    You have done two different roles in different version of Raavanan…
    It was a very challenging task. When Mani sir approached me for the movie and told me he wanted me to do different roles in the Tamil and Hindi versions, I was taken aback. My first reaction was ‘No’. He wouldn’t take that answer and insisted that I could do it. The confidence he had in my acting abilities made me accept the offer. The result could be seen at the Cannes Film Festival, when Raavan premiered there recently. When Mani Ratnam informed the gathering that I was the main protagonist in the Tamil version, the international audience was surprised that an actor could do two opposing roles in different languages. I was thrilled to know that no actor had ever tried it before in any other part of the world.

    What was it like being directed by Mani Ratnam, with whom you were yearning to work?
    It was a dream come true for me. On many occasions in the past, I missed out being part of his projects. I even thought at one stage that I should bid adieu to cinema after doing at least one film with him. Mani’s passion for cinema is contagious. It eventually makes one addicted to it. After accepting Raavanan, I had some apprehensions about his style of working. Now that I have completed two films with him (Raavan and Raavanan), I can say working with him is simply magical.

    What’s your contribution to the film?
    With each film I learn new things. Mani Ratnam’s approach to characters is unique. Basically, I am a director’s actor and whatever they tell me, I just reproduce.
    Of course, I always have an urge to improvise and add special inputs. I guess, the combo of Mani’s recipe and my improvisation in terms of looks and acting have yielded the right results on screen.

    Raavan is a big ticket to Bollywood. What’s next — Hollywood?
    Yes, Raavan will take me places. Both versions are going to be screened in various international film festivals. I have always been keen on doing crossover films and I am optimistic that when Raavan goes global, I am sure of bagging international projects. But my priority is always Tamil films. However, I am ready to do Bhojpuri, Assamese or Bengali movies, provided the character inspires me.

    Was it a double delight working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in two versions?
    As far as I am concerned, she is just my co-star. She is a thorough professional and the comfort level between us was very high, which probably reflected well in our on-screen chemistry. I can also say that I enjoyed working with Abhishek Bachchan, who is one of my best co-stars till now.

    It was said you found it tough dubbing in Hindi…
    Unlike Mani’s other films, this movie has lots of dialogues. When he informed me that he wanted me to dub my own voice in Hindi, I was stunned. For the Hindi version, every time the dialogues would be given just before the shot and almost all the scenes were taken in a single shot. Yes, I had a terrible time while dubbing in Hindi. Anyway, it has come out well. Now it’s for the audience to decide.

    With Raavanan, are you hoping you’ll be second time lucky with the National Award?
    (Laughs…) Hmmm…Yeah.. Whoever has seen it, has been predicting that I’ll get an award. I don’t do films keeping awards in mind. I do them to satisfy my audience. If an award comes my way, I am happy. Whether I get it or not, I am confident that Mani sir will bag an award. It’s always been a point of discussion between me and Abhishek that Mani’s films have brought awards to many technicians and artistes, but he is still to get his due. We hope Raavanan will fill that void.

    Do you consciously try to balance between commercial and serious cinema?
    Raavanan is a commercial entertainer. Although my next, to be directed by Boopathy Pandian, is a police story, it is not typical khaki stuff. There is a lot of humour involved. I am also working with Selvaraghavan, who comes up with out-of-the-box scripts. His characters are far from run-of-the-mill and challenge the actor. I also have a few more in the pipeline with directors Ameer, Hari and Vasantha Balan.

    Is that all?

    Master Mani Helmer, the “modern take Ramayana ‘proves his technical talent and courage to be different.

    Aishwarya does not make your face different shades of Abhishek, the movie was filmed in various locations and complex, and visual treat.

    In this film, Grand Hindi, Tamil, Telugu version with a full screen photo projects with Indian money.

    Unlike most of the major filmmakers, Mani Ratnam is something for everyone trying to add, ‘Raavan hatke to learn that these “evildoers, that none Subhash Ghai’s’ match ‘or’ as a hero rumored to have wanted to.

    This innovative ‘Ramayana’ to take on the evil you have more than discussion forum held in the woods, and beautiful things that I visit here also demonstrate the power of steam, like Amitabh Bachchan shine.

    History … Whether

    Take on as the “Ramayana,” Rama (Vikram) Dev met with joy (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) Sita with tonality, as a classical dancer who has a gambling expert in unconventional marriage. Vikram Lal-Motte, a small town in India (which is partially transferred to the question). City, where the law is not the world police, but as Ravana (Abhishek Bachchan) Beer for over a year, which is tribal, the order established in the region have been deprived of power equation is moved to the place it was.

    Lord knows, any place, to clean up the key that does not overpower big fish, in this case, Beer –. Dev opened in one fell swoop Beer and operates the world speed event, which will require that change lives. Beer, hurt, but angry, back off a war of the Lord in the wilderness, Beer, and returned to the tone early. Man becomes a battleground. The war between good and evil, between Dev and Ram and Raavan between Beer.

    What goes?

    Santosh Sivan film operator Beer dive into the river, found the police killed within a few seconds and set fire to the game Beer starts with drums and tone of kidnapping, in Maud and deliver what a gem this command.

    The first half of our money (something strange sound Beer its role in May, he said with a laugh really driven to madness show, and face the adverse easily where their role is obvious the southern edge of the image, the shadow of hate I would like to try building .

    A movie scene is trying to balance with the character.

    The film is clearly treatable. Hard seats easy shooting and V. Santosh Sivan was Manikandan was “What .. emergency work Raavan ‘

    Rahman music is more rhythmic melodies, but adds impetus to this process.

    Especially during peak between Aish and Abhishek love and say something, and very well written.

    ‘Raavan’ role in anointing really driven to madness over the “young”, but its performance is powerful, because it mainly depends on the mind Lallan Singh Guru or innocence of the brain.

    Aishwarya is top class in this role, and he delivers it in style. Vikram as he Ram any capacity is very good. The name of Nikhil in impressed. Ravi Kishen is constantly impressive, invaluable assistance and Priyamani is the highest growth rates.

    The second half, managed to hit the Raavan and precious stones and Renzil greatest achievement as a writer and want to be Helmer.

    Post interval triggers the discussion section, where good and evil is torn between the women and where the movie more than common sense.

    Sreekar Prasad, deftly finished sequence with Abhishek and Vikram among scary black arts, especially dancing a few steps away from the war.

    Production costs are burned crazy

    What’s not?

    Govinda is disgusting to compare the characters from the “Ramayana” some pitches, not an alcoholic and Govinda as a symbol of Hanuman is motivated, as can be shown.

    Hindi-speaking belt in the movie of their intelligence as the enemy here is considered bad Raavan.

    History moves only in the second half, although much heard of Beer illegal methods, but the audience hardly expresses the fear that their emotional impact is very good.

    Conclusion: Bollywood Raavan ‘those who want to try different ways that money for the treatment of the previous movies are not equal, but it is certainly his stamp celebrate outstanding technical features and supported the film is recommended for the big screen to watch.

  9. Raavan Movie Review # 2 on June 19th, 2010 12:33 am

    It’s time for the modern-day version of ‘Ramayana’ to unfold this Friday, exactly two weeks after ‘Mahabharata’. The very thought of watching an epic in the present-day milieu only enhances the curiosity for the film. And if the present-day adaptation of ‘Ramayana’ is helmed by a master storyteller [Mani Ratnam], the moviegoer should, and must expect the moon. Nothing less would suffice. After all, a Mani Ratnam film is not merely an experience, it’s an event!

    Mani Ratnam, who has penned the screenplay of RAAVAN, models his characters on the lines of ‘Ramayana’:

    * An upright cop, the punisher, the law/Lord Rama [Vikram];

    * His doting wife/Goddess Sita [Aishwarya Rai Bachchan];

    * The lieutenant he befriends in the forest/Hanuman [Govinda];

    * His confidante/Lakshmana [Nikhil Dwivedi];

    * The antagonist’s sister, who triggers off the war/Surpanakha [Priyamani]

    * And, of course, the antagonist, the Robinhood turned Raavan who kidnaps the top cop’s wife and keeps her in his custody, in his Lanka/Raavan [Abhishek Bachchan].

    Mani Ratnam has also included the part where Goddess Sita was banished from the kingdom of Ayodhya due to the gossip of kingdom folk. It was agni pariksha then, but in the film, the husband [Vikram] asks the wife [Aishwarya] for a polygraph test to prove her chastity/fidelity. At the same time, RAAVAN brings back memories of a movie that, coincidentally, had a similar storyline — JUNGLE [Ramgopal Varma].

    You’ve come to expect scintillating visuals in the master film-maker’s films and RAAVAN is no exception. But RAAVAN falters in narrating the story with dexterity. In fact, this one’s a game of see-saw, with a dull and lifeless first hour, an absorbing second half and a weak, lacklustre climax.

    Final word? RAAVAN comes with the baggage of humungous expectations, mainly for the one name attached to it: Mani Ratnam. Even though comparisons with the genius film-maker’s earlier accomplishments like MOUNA RAAGAM, NAYAGAN, AGNI NAKSHATRAM, GEETHANJALI, ANJALI, ROJA, BOMBAY and GURU are sacrilegious since all belong to diverse genres, RAAVAN is nowhere close to those epics. The benchmarks only get higher and higher every time Mani Ratnam makes a film and RAAVAN, unfortunately, is a step down. Sorry, several steps down!

    Dev [Vikram] falls in love with Ragini [Aishwarya Rai Bachchan], a spunky classical dancer who is as unconventional as him. They get married and he takes up his new post in Lal Maati, a small town in northern India. A town where the world of law is not the police, but Beera [Abhishek Bachchan], a tribal who has, over the years, shifted the power equation of the place from the ruling to the have-nots of the area.

    Dev knows that the key to bringing order to any place is not to vanquish the big fish; in this case — Beera. In one stroke Dev manages to rip open Beera’s world and set in motion a change of event which will claim lives. Beera, injured but enraged, hits back, starting a battle that draws Dev, Beera and Ragini into the jungle. The forest becomes the battleground. The battle between good and evil, between Dev and Beera, between Ram and Raavan.

    Mani Ratnam’s adaptation of ‘Ramayana’ begins with the wife getting kidnapped and her husband launching a massive hunt to track down his wife and nail Raavan aka Beera. The reason why Beera takes this extreme step is revealed much, much later, towards the post-interval portions, which means that Mani Ratnam follows the nonlinear pattern to narrate his story.

    Let’s talk about the factors that pull this film down. First and foremost, when you’ve a title like RAAVAN, the demon king, who couldn’t be vanquished by Gods, demons or spirits, you expect Raavan aka Beera to be equally powerful, who could send a chill down your spine, who spells terror and fear. But, in RAAVAN, Beera comes across as a psycho. The streak of madness in his character makes a mockery of the character itself.

    Also, his makeup and also the shabby avtaars of his family/henchmen is not something that makes them looks menacing. In fact, it makes the entire gang look repulsive.

    Even the finale leaves a lot to be desired. Ideally, the film should’ve ended after the fight on the bridge, but the entire track thereafter seems like an add-on, which is forced into the screenplay. Ash having a change of heart for Abhishek is equally unpalatable and makes you wonder, how and when did she develop such strong feelings/emotions for Beera? The writing is flawed, no two opinions on that!

    On the plus side, the track, which starts from Nikhil’s kidnap to the entire flashback portion, is attention grabbing. The factors that prompt Beera to spell havoc in Dev’s life are apt, although Beera’s sister’s portions, while narrating the atrocities committed on her, aren’t easy to comprehend in entirety. What was she trying to say, frankly? Yet, the impact of the flashback portions is worth noting.

    The fight on the bridge — between Abhishek and Vikram — is astounding. One hasn’t watched something like this on the Hindi screen yet, I’m sure. In fact, the execution of each and every stunt [Shyam Kaushal, Peter Hein] is exceptional. Every Mani Ratnam film is embellished with stunning visuals and RAAVAN boasts of mind-boggling visuals as well. Shooting the film at tough locales isn’t easy and Santosh Sivan and V. Manikandan’s vision creates magic on screen. Every frame is worth admiring and applauding.

    A.R. Rahman’s music is excellent and the visual appeal only enhances the impact. I’d like to single out ‘Behne De’ and ‘Thok De Killi’, two tracks that I’d like to hum even after the show has concluded. In fact, the latter is very energetic in terms of choreography. Vijay Krishna Acharya’s dialogue hit you like a sharp object at times, which is in sync with the mood of the film.

    I’ve admired Abhishek’s work in Mani Ratnam’s earlier films YUVA and GURU, but despite putting his best foot forward, for some strange, inexplicable reason, Abhishek doesn’t look convincing for the part. Also, the dialogue delivered by him aren’t coherent at times. Aishwarya is wonderful, looking ethereal and enacting her part with conviction. Vikram is first-rate, although the role isn’t substantial enough. Govinda fails to create any impact whatsoever. Amongst the plethora of actors, Nikhil Dwivedi [a revelation; very good], Ravi Kishan [nice] and Priyamani [perfect] stand out.

    On the whole, RAAVAN is a king-sized disappointment, in terms of content. From the business point of view, a Mani Ratnam film might ensure a healthy opening [at plexes mainly], but the weak script on one hand and the heavy price tag on the other will make RAAVAN see red.
